Squadron Commander

Captain Christopher Colvin was born and raised in metropolitan Detroit, Michigan. Having relocated to Virginia, he is a Winchester resident along with his wife and three children, two of which are cadets in the Civil Air Patrol.

A member of the Civil Air Patrol since 2005, he has commanded the Lt Colonel Keehn Squadron in Flint, Michigan and served as the Director of Public Affairs for the Iowa Wing.  He is a qualified Mission Observer, and Scanner, Ground Team Leader and holds other emergency services qualifications within the Civil Air Patrol.

He is the recipient of several awards, including the Public Affairs and Safety Officer of the Year in the Iowa Wing and most recently, the Public Affairs Officer of the Year for the Virginia Wing and Middle East Region. He has also received Congressional Recognition, Commander’s Commendation and Meritorious Service Awards. Captain Colvin is also the recipient of the Disaster Relief ribbon with a “V” for his service in a presidentially declared disaster working alongside the Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, The National Weather Service and other state and federal agencies.

 


Lt Colonel Duke Stanton

Lt Colonel Duke Stanon was born and raised in Roanoke, Virginia. During his high school years he enlisted in the National Guard.  Following high school, Colonel Stanton attended Virginia Tech and upon graduation entered the U.S. Marine Corps as a second lieutenant. 

Lt Colonel Stanton served overseas away from his famly along with his numerous other deployments. He served in the Vietnam War where he flew over two hundred missions and has been recognized with multiple awards and distinctions including the Legion of Merit and the Distinguished Flying Cross.

A member of the Civil Air Patrol since 2000, he has commanded the Winchester Composite Squadron and Group 3.  He is a Mountain Mission Pilot Examiner, an Evaluator for Mission Base Air Operations Branch Directors and holds numerous other qualifications within the Civil Air Patrol.

Lt Colonel Stanton has two girls by his first wife, who he lost to an illness, and has raised two stepsons (one served in Iraq and Bosnia and the other works for the Discovery Channel) by his second wife, Pat Stanton, who is also a Civil Air Patrol Member serving as a Mission Information Officer. Lt Colonel Stanton and his wife have thirteen grandchildren.
